Rosemary WINS Taste the Nation!

So the best woman won... After a slow start in which her team from the North East of England were almost eliminated several times in the early rounds of the competition, Rosemary and her four amateur cooks won through to the final of Taste the Nation. There they came up against one of the early favourites, the team from Scotland, who had scored consistently well throughout the competition.

After the starters had been judged, Rosemary's team were behind, but despite a disaster with the jus for the lamb, the judges preferred the North East's main course to Scotland's, leaving it all down to the dessert course. Here Rosemary tweaked an idea from an earlier round, and her team produced a triumphant rhubarb and ginger trifle to wow the judges and blow the competition away.

When all the scores were totted up, Rosemary's team had sneaked it by one and a half points (out of a possible 150!), thanks to their magnificent trifle. Well done Rosemary and her team, and commiserations to the Scots, who came so close.
