ITV have come up with a real winner here. Casting Rosemary as the vice principal and cookery teacher of a finishing school with a difference. In this school the pupils are hardened, beer-swilling ladettes, and the challenge is to take these etiquette-challenged good time girls and turn them into polite young gels.
As you can imagine, things don't always work out for our would-be debutantes, but one thing's for certain, they won't get much change out of Rosemary.
Rosemary Shrager's cookery school at Swinton Park has been named the Good Food Magazine's Cookery School of the Month in the November 2003 issue of the magazine. The award came after they sent food writer Michael Raffael to review the course.
Several schools were visited by the magazine, and Rosemary's course came out on top. Thanks in part, no doubt, to the superb surroundings at Swinton Park, this award was mainly down to Rosemary, her wonderful skills as a cook and the joy that she brings to teaching them.
Michael Raffael's review was printed in the November issue of the Good Food Magazine's and is reprinted here in full.
Americans are to get a little bit of the Castle Cook in their own homes early next year. Always eager to bring her unique brand of cooking, and her unique personality to a new audience, Rosemary Shrager has accepted the challenge of cooking on American TV.
She is to appear with host chef Tyler Florence on his program Tyler's ultimate. The show is to be broadcast on Friday evenings at 8.30pm during January 2004, and Rosemary hopes it will help raise her profile on the other side of the Atlantic.
"America is very important to me," she said, obviously delighted with the show. "If I can spread the Castle Cook name over there, then I can see life becoming enjoyably hectic over the next few years."
With the sale of Amhuinnsuidhe Castle in 2002, Rosenmary said goodbye to the wonderful Isle of Harris and took her cookery school to pastures new. She settled on Swinton Park in the Yorkshire Dales, another magnificent location.
"Swinton Park is everything I could have wished for," said the beaming Ms Shrager. "The location is superb and the kitchen magnificent. I feel very lucky to have found such a splendid new venue for the courses."
The move from the Hebrides has also made it easier for her to pursue other aspects of her career, such as her television series, catering for large events and so on.
